Geraldine Mitchell was born in Dublin and lived for many years in France, Algeria and Spain.

Her first collection of poems is World Without Maps (Galway, Arlen House, 2011).

Other publications include two novels for young people, Welcoming the French (Dublin, Attic Press, 1992); and Escape to the West (Attic Press 1994); and a biography of Muriel Gahan, Deeds Not Words (Dublin, Town House 1997).

She won the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award in 2008.

She now lives in Co. Mayo.
