Sujata Bhatt
Sujata Bhatt was born in Ahmedabad, India in 1956, and spent her early years in Pune. She has translated Gujarati poetry into English for the Penguin anthology of Contemporary Indian Women Poets.
Her collections are Brunizem (Manchester, The Carcanet Press, 1988), for which she received the Commonwealth Poetry Prize (Asia) and the Alice Hunt Bartlett Award; Monkey Shadows (Carcanet, 1991) which was a Poetry Book Society Recommendation; The Stinking Rose(Carcanet, 1995); and Augatora (Carcanet, 2000). She received a Cholmondely Award in 1991.
She is a frequent visitor to Ireland, and lives in Bremen, Germany.
