Caitríona O’Reilly was born in Wicklow.
Her collections are The Nowhere Birds (Tarset, UK, Bloodaxe Books, 2001), which was was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection, and awarded the Rooney Prize for Irish Literature; The Sea Cabinet (Bloodaxe Books, 2007), which was a Poetry Book Society Recommendation, and was shortlisted for the Irish Times Poetry Now Award; and Geis (Bloodaxe Books, 2015/Winston-Salem, Wake Forest University Press, 2015), a Poetry Book Society Recommendation.
Educated at Trinity College, Dublin, where she completed a Ph.D. in American Literature, in 2002 O’Reilly held the Harper-Wood Studentship in English Literature from St. Johns College, Cambridge. She also writes literary criticism and has published some short fiction.
She lives in Lincolnshire.
