Ted McNulty, was born in New York, of Irish parents from counties Cavan and Clare.
A one-time news reporter and university lecturer, he began writing in his fifties. He spent the latter part of his life in Dublin with fellow poet Shiela O’Hagan.
His two collections are Rough Landings (Cliffs of Moher, Salmon Poetry, 1992); and On The Block (Salmon Poetry, 1995).
He won the Hennessey/Sunday Tribune Prize as New Irish Writer in 1991.
He died in Dublin in September 1998 and is buried in Cavan. He is commemorated by the Ted McNulty Prize.
