Alan McMonagle was born in Sligo and grew up in Longford.
His collections of short stories are Liar, Liar (Wordsonthestreet Press, October 2008), which was nominated for the Frank O’Connor Short Story Award; and Psychotic Episodes (Dublin, Arlen House, 2013). The title story was nominated for the Pushcart Prize.
His radio play, Oscar Night, was produced and broadcast as part of RTE’s Drama on One in 2014,
His first novel is Ithaca (London, Picador, 2017).
He lives in Galway.
