Caitlín Maude was born in Casla in the Connemara Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking area) in 1942.

Her poetry collections include Caitlín Maude, Dánta, ed. Ciar&aacuten Ó Coigligh (Baile Átha Cliath, Coiscéim, 1984); Caitlín Maude (Coiscéim, 1988); and Caitlín Maude: file (Bari, Italy, edizioni dal sud, and Coiscéim, 1985).

Her poetry and sean nós singing, for which she was also noted, was issued on record as Caitlín Maude – Caitlín (Dublin, Gael-Linn, 1975). She was also highly regarded as an actress and dramatist.
Maude’s drama and prose is collected as drámaíocht agus prós /Ciarán Ó Coigligh, a chuir in eagar (Baile Átha Cliath, Coiscéim, 1988).

She died in 1982 and is buried in Dublin.
