Richard W. Halperin was born in Chicago, USA in 1943, and is an Irish/US dual national.

His collections are Anniversary (Cliffs of Moher, Salmon Poetry, 2011); Shy White Tiger (Salmon Poetry, 2014); Empty Rooms (Mansfield, Nottingham, Thynks Publications, 2014); and Quiet in a Quiet House (Salmon Poetry, 2016).

A Japanese translation of Anniversary is published by Kindai Bungeisha Press, Tokyo.

He has published a number of chapbooks with Lapwing Press of Belfast, and is a frequent contributor to Irish publications and readings. Until 2005 he was chief of teacher education for UNESCO, which entailed travel and work in Asia, Africa and Central and Eastern Europe. For UNESCO, he edited the downloadable book Reading and Writing Poetry: The Recommendations of Noted Poets from Many Lands on the Teaching of Poetry in Secondary Schools, available in English, French and Spanish versions.

He has lived for decades in France.
