Greg Delanty
Greg Delanty was born in Cork in 1958.
His collections are Cast in the Fire (Mountrath, The Dolmen Press, 1986); Southward (Dublin, Dedalus, 1992); American Wake (Belfast, The Blackstaff Press/Chester Springs, PA, Dufour, 1995); The Hellbox (Oxford, The Oxford University Press, 1998); The Blind Stitch (Manchester, Carcanet Press, 2001); The Ship of Birth (Carcanet Press, 2003); and Aceldama, included in Collected Poems (Carcanet Oxford Poets, 2006).
With Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill, he edited Jumping Off Shadows: Selected Contemporary Irish Poetry (Cork University Press, 1995); (with Robert Welsh) The Selected Poems of Patrick Galvin (Cork University Press, 1995). He translated The Collected Poems of Sean O’Riordain in Translation (Dublin, New Island Books, 2007)
He has received numerous awards including the Patrick Kavanagh Award (1983), the Allen Dowling Poetry Fellowship
(1986), the Wolfers-O’Neill Award (1996-97), the Austin Clarke Award (1996), National Poetry Competition Prizewinner (Poetry Society of England, 1999) an Arts Council of Ireland Bursary (1998-99), and an award from the Royal Literary Fund (1999).
