Gerard Donovan

Gerard Donovan born in Wexford and grew up in Galway.
His collections are Columbus Rides Again (The Cliffs of Moher, Co Clare, Salmon, 1992); Kings and Bicycles (Salmon, 1995); and The LightHouse (Salmon, 2000), which was short listed for the Irish Times Literature Prize.
His novels are Schopenhauer’s Telescope (New York, Perseus Publishing/London, Scribner, 2003), which was long listed for the Man Booker Prize, 2003, was a finalist for Irish Novel of the Year 2003, won the Kerry Group Irish Fiction Award in 2004. and represented Ireland at the European First Novel Festival in Hungary; Doctor Salt (London, Scribner, 2005); and Julius Winsome (New York, Overlook Press (2006/London, Faber & Faber, [June] 2007).
His short stories have appeared in or are scheduled for The Faber Book of Best New Irish Short Stories, The Phoenix Anthology of Irish Short Stories, and Granta.
He lives in New York.
