Thomas Duddy was born Ramolin, near Shrule, Co. Mayo, but lived in Galway from the 1970s.

His debut poetry collection is The Hiding Place (Galway/Dublin, Arlen House, 2011). His chapbook, The Small Hours, was published in 2006 by Happenstance Press of Fife, which will also publish, in the near future, his last volume of poetry, The Years.

His poems were anthologised in Best of Irish Poetry 2007, Best of Irish Poetry 2010, and The Forward Book of Poetry 2011.

As an academic and philosopher, his publications included A History of Irish Thought (London, Routledge, 2002). He also edited Irish Philosophy in the Nineteenth Century (Bristol, Thoemmes Press, 2002); The Irish Response to Darwinism (Bristol, Thoemmes Continuum, 2003); and Dictionary of Irish Philosophers (Thoemmes Continuum, 2004).

He died in Galway in 2012.
