Anne Devlin
Anne Devlin was born in Belfast in 1951.
She won the Hennessy Literary Award
in 1982 for her short story Passages, which was adapted for television as A
Woman Calling.
Her plays, Ourselves Alone, includes A Woman Calling and The
Long March and have been collected as Ourselves Alone (Faber & Faber, 1986). She
has also written the screenplays for Titanic Town, which is adapted from a
novel by Mary Costello, (London, Faber & Faber, 1999); and Emily Bronte’s
Wuthering Heights.
Her short fiction is collected as The Way-Paver (Faber & Faber 1986).
Recipient of the Samuel Beckett Award in 1984, she won the Susan Smith
Blackburn Prize in 1986.
